About
Welcome to the Road Safety Forum. Established in 1999 and run by Brake, the road safety charity, the Road Safety Forum connects and provides professional development for people working in road safety and traffic reduction around the globe.
Who should join?
Anyone with an interest in researching, implementing or promoting road safety programmes should join the Forum, whether you are an academic, road safety practitioner, emergency service worker, health professional, safety product designer, or campaigner. (However, if your job is to manage the safety of a fleet of vehicles you need to join Brake's Fleet Safety Forum, our sister Forum specifically for fleet and health and safety managers in companies. If this is you, click here to go to our Fleet Safety Forum site.)
What does it cost to join?
It doesn't cost a lot to join the Road Safety Forum. You pay a very reasonably priced annual subscription fee, thanks to donations to the charity that enable us to run this service at a subsidised rate. If you are working for road safety in one of the world's poorest countries it is free to join. If you aren't a subscriber, you can still attend our acclaimed conferences and workshops (although the discounts you get if you join makes joining very worth your while).
What are the benefits of joining?
The Road Safety Forum is particularly known for its professional development events; conferences and workshops in particular. Our events bring together leading academics and practitioners to share their expertise on a vast array of road safety and traffic reduction topics, from drug driving to child restraints. Click here to see forthcoming events.
Subscribers to the Forum also:
- receive Target Zero, our fortnightly ebulletin of road safety research and initiatives, keeping you up to date with worldwide road safety developments.
- get password-access to the other restricted areas of this site, including our research reports, minutes of our previous events, professional development e-guides, and more.
- get password-access to www.fleetsafetyforum.org, a Brake initiative providing a wealth of risk management advice to fleets and fleet drivers, an increasingly critical area of road safety.
The Forum is also responsible for the free-view Road Safety Library. This archive library lists research and initiatives by topic and is an invaluable resource for road safety practitioners.
By joining the Forum you are not only helping your own professional development, you are also contributing to an important global charity. Brake campaigns for road safety and also supports families bereaved by road crashes. Find out more about Brake at www.brake.org.uk and www.roadsafetyweek.org
